I do admit that there are some things I don't like. It does seem to be mostly people looking to hire models for porn or freebies. The work, that is offered in the casting calls, is either a sexual scma or a money scam or they are just plain rude.
People at OMP and Ujena call me unprofessional, because I disliked the Bikini Jam last year. They said a REAL model would have a good time. I just found it sleazy and a lot of the people were rude. I also don't understand what kind of contest actually COSTS the winner thousands of dollars?
I did try at ModelMayhem once and they disregarded me, because they didn't like how I looked. That was their case.
I have other sites that chase after me (my money) but, as soon as I ask if they don't mind that I am not a hottie; I never hear from them again.
I guess the reason I stay with OMP, because they don't care how I look and I cannot make much complaints cause I have no assistance and I'm in a state for poor economy.
I guess the thing I really want to ask is which one IS the good modeling site or agency??

Yes I know about the Ujena scam they run every year. On that competition the model MUST BUY the Ujena swimwear. And your right it will cost the model any where from 500 to 1000+ dollars.
Also if you disagree with onemodelplace or their associates then you are automatically labeled unprofessional and a trouble maker. If you ask me that's in itself is unprofessional in so many ways.
OK, now here is a comment you wont like. On these sites (any of them)there sole purpose is for marketing and networking yourself, so in that regard its a tool and its only as good as in how you use it. And modeling is a hit or miss business and you as a model MUST have thick skin! One photographer might hate you, but then the next will love you. I always tell the story of Kathy Kinney (Mimi Bobeck Carey) from the Drew Carey show. She STARTED as a model! Granted she was a plus size model, but none the less she had to over come hurtles to be what she is now.
If your serious about modeling, then you need to HIT it hard! Talk to everyone, get a nice book put together. The book will cost some money, most professional ones do. Its all in how hard you want it.
As far as agencies... I would say apply to as many as you can. but have a good book put together before you do. Also look at all the casting calls you can find. Even look at craigslist, some of the ones in the talent area are legit.
Just remember the sites, the agencies, your book are all just tools. It how you use them that counts.

I was told, by some agencies here, that there is no modeling in New Mexico. I am also broke. There must be some slightly easier way to stop being screwed over.
I will do some research of the are and see what I can find.
